A note about Fleet driver privacy:
OnStar takes personal privacy very seriously. It is important to know that OnStar does not continuously or routinely monitor, update, or otherwise track the location of OnStar-equipped vehicles. OnStar normally obtains the location of a vehicle only when a driver or other vehicle occupant initiates a request for service, when there is an air bag deployment, or when Automatic Crash Response is triggered. OnStar requires police involvement for Stolen Vehicle Assistance and missing person requests.

It is also not possible for OnStar Advisors to monitor vehicle occupant conversations without notice to the occupants. When a voice connection is established, a light flashes, a ring is heard, and the radio mutes. In addition, a voice connection is normally audible through the stereo speakers, and drivers of vehicles programmed with text-display capabilities can see an indicator of a connection to OnStar on the instrument panel. Even if requested, it is not possible for OnStar to override this functionality. OnStar's policy also requires Advisors to announce their presence immediately upon establishing a voice connection. OnStar updates on new services and system capabilities, and OnStar's full Privacy Statement are available on this site or by contacting OnStar.
