The following features in your vehicle must be activated:

Adaptive Cruise Control is: ON

Forward Collision System is set to: ALERT AND BRAKE

The following feature in your vehicle must be deactivated:

Teen Driver is: OFF

OnStar Plan

Super Cruise functionality is enabled by a data connection for real-time, precise positioning and periodic Super Cruise map updates. In order to operate Super Cruise, you must have an active and eligible OnStar* plan. Super Cruise vehicles are also connected to OnStar^® Emergency Services,*  so Emergency-Certified OnStar Advisors* can assist drivers should they become nonresponsive while Super Cruise is active.

Learning the Alert System

When engaged, Super Cruise utilizes a Driver Attention System. It provides feedback on system status, works to monitor your head and eye positioning and uses alerts that prompt you to pay close attention to the road and steer manually when needed.

First Alert
If the system detects that you may not be paying attention to the road ahead, the steering wheel light bar flashes green to prompt you to return your attention to the road.

Second Alert
If the steering wheel light bar flashes green for too long and the system determines continued lack of attention to the road ahead, the steering wheel light bar flashes red to notify you to look at the road and steer the vehicle manually. Also, beeps will sound or the Safety Alert Seat will vibrate (if equipped).

Third Alert
If the steering wheel light bar flashes red for too long, a voice prompt will be heard. You should take over steering immediately, otherwise the vehicle will slow in your lane of travel and eventually brake to a stop, as well as prompt an Emergency-Certified* OnStar Advisor to call into the vehicle to check on you. Super Cruise* and Adaptive Cruise Control* will disengage.

Messaging
Super Cruise may not be available or may disengage when active based on several operating conditions. Use the Super Cruise button on the steering wheel to view Driver Information Center (DIC) messages about system operation.

If the Super Cruise system does not appear, press the Super Cruise button to display a DIC message about why the system is unavailable.

If the Super Cruise system disengages, press the Super Cruise button (within 10 seconds) to display a DIC message with the reason for disengagement.

These are some of the situations when Super Cruise should not be activated:

• When you’re not on a compatible road
• During difficult or uncertain driving conditions
• When lane markings are poor or visibility is limited
• In slippery or in other adverse conditions, including rain, sleet, fog, ice or snow
• In a tunnel or construction zones
• On a road shoulder or service drive
• On a freeway or highway exit lane 
• When towing a trailer, unless equipped with Super Cruise trailering capability

Super Cruise* is an available driver assistance technology that allows hands-free driving on compatible roads. On compatible roads, Super Cruise handles the steering, acceleration and braking, helping maintain a selected following distance from the vehicle ahead.

Super Cruise is not a self‑driving or autonomous system. It does not perform all aspects of driving and does not replace the driver. While Super Cruise allows hands‑free driving when conditions permit, drivers must remain attentive, keep their eyes on the road and be ready to take control at any time. Drivers should always use Super Cruise in accordance with local laws and never use handheld devices.

The Super Cruise* driver assistance technology uses Global Positioning System (GPS) sensing, GPS-enhanced data, a high-precision map and a network of cameras to maintain control of vehicle steering on compatible roads. The GPS uses real-time corrections and map data to determine the vehicle’s location, while the Lane Sensing Camera detects the marked lanes on the road to help the vehicle automatically steer and maintain lane position. The system works with Adaptive Cruise Control*, which is designed to detect vehicles traveling in the same direction in its path and accelerate or brake the vehicle to maintain a driver-selected following distance from the vehicle ahead, even in stop-and-go traffic conditions. When engaged, Super Cruise utilizes a Driver Attention System. It monitors the driver’s head and eye position and using alerts in the instrument panel that prompts the driver to pay close attention to the road and steer manually when needed.

To disengage Super Cruise* and Adaptive Cruise Control, take control of the steering wheel then do one of the following:

-  Press the brake pedal
-  On an EV, pull the Regen on Demand^®* paddle towards you
-  Press the Super Cruise button again
-  Press the Adaptive Cruise Control* button

Super Cruise* does not follow navigation door‑to‑door. However, when a destination is set using Google built‑in*, Google Maps* highlights Super Cruise–compatible roads and shows how much of your drive can be completed hands‑free, helping you choose an optimal route. As you drive, Google Maps indicates where hands‑free driving is available and alerts you when it’s time to take the wheel as you leave a compatible road. On select, properly equipped vehicles, Super Cruise can also assist with lane changes on compatible roads. Depending on the vehicle, this may include Automatic Lane Change*, where the system can change lanes automatically when it is safe to do so, or Turn Signal Activated Lane Change*, where the vehicle changes lanes after the driver signals. Lane‑change features operate only when conditions allow and the feature is enabled.
