After a collision with a red-light runner, one Member is grateful for an Advisor’s reassurance
Kay’ce Eagan spends a lot of time behind the wheel in her work as an auditor. “I’m on the road all the time, and my job requires me to get to clients and see them face-to-face,” she says. “It varies day to day, but I’m usually about a hundred miles away from home most of the time.” But in early May, Kay’ce’s day came to an abrupt halt when another driver ran a red light.
“I was on my way to work and just cruising along,” she recalls. “I was the third car at the light to get onto the interstate and we have oncoming traffic that you have to cross.” Kaye’ce had a green left-turn arrow and began to make her turn, but as she did, another driver continued through a red light and slammed into the front of her Cadillac XT5 mid-size SUV.
“All of a sudden out of nowhere, I got hit,” Kay’ce says. “He was texting and driving and just did not stop.”
The impact triggered the vehicle’s airbags and also activated Automatic Crash Response.
In pain and unable to find her phone or get out of the vehicle, Kay’ce was grateful to hear the Advisor’s voice after the crash. The Advisor requested police and ambulance be sent to the crash location. “He was just so calm,” she recalls. “When you get into a crash, you don’t know what to do, and you’re confused and there’s a lot going on.”
“It was a very hard impact,” Kay’ce says. While the other driver walked away, Kay’ce went to the hospital and, a few months later, is still dealing with recovery from minor injuries sustained in the crash. “I had a week of bed rest and still have to go to the chiropractor because I have some problems with my neck.” Despite that, she says, “the fact that I only have some bumps and bruises is a blessing.”
Before her crash, Kay’ce had only had OnStar for about a year, and fortunately hadn’t needed to use it. But after this experience, she replaced her vehicle with another Cadillac because, as she says, “I really like OnStar.”
Above all, Kay’ce feels gratitude to the Advisor who connected in to her vehicle after her crash.
“He got me through it and got me the services that I needed,” she says. “To me, that makes a difference, because when I needed it, OnStar was there.”
